Media Attorney Jane Briggs-Bunting, director of the School of Journalism at Michigan State University, launched her Detroit Free
Press career as the first, full-time female police reporter at the newspaper covering Detroit and its suburbs in the early 1980s. Among her stories were the unsolved murders of four Oakland County children. She covered both cops and courts for the Free Press and national magazines like People for more than a decade. She continues to work for better and easier access to public records and meetings. E-mail Jane with any questions about the workshop. |
DIRECTIONS AND PARKING
Directions to The College of Communication Arts and Sciences - The building is on the corner of Wilson and Red Cedar roads on the campus of Michigan State University. (The parking ramp behind the building is on the corner of Trowbridge and Red Cedar roads.)
- From the west (Grand Rapids) - Take I-96 east to Detroit. Take exit 106 on I-96 which will lead you to I-496/US-127 north. After a few miles, you exit on Trowbridge Road. Take Trowbridge Road past Harrison Road until you reach Red Cedar Road. The parking ramp will be on your right as you make the lefthand curve. The Communication Arts and Sciences Building is immediately beyong the parking ramp on the right on Red Cedar, across from the MSU Department of Police and Public Safety.
- From the east (Detroit) - Take I-96 west and follow the signs to Lansing. Take exit 106 on I96 which will lead you to I-496/US-127 north. After a few miles you exit on Trowbridge Road. Take Trowbridge Road past Harrison Road until you reach Red Cedar Road. The parking ramp will be on your right as you make the lefthand curve. The Communication Arts and Sciences Building is immediately beyong the parking ramp on the right on Red Cedar, across from the MSU Department of Police and Public Safety.
- From the south (Jackson) - Take US-127 north. After a few miles you exit on Trowbridge Road. Take Trowbridge Road past Harrison Road until you reach Red Cedar Road. The parking ramp will be on your right as you make the lefthand curve. The Communication Arts and Sciences Building is immediately beyong the parking ramp on the right on Red Cedar, across from the MSU Department of Police and Public Safety.
- From the north (St. Johns) - Take US-27 south to US-127 south. After a few miles you exit on Trowbridge Road. Take Trowbridge Road past Harrison Road until you reach Red Cedar Road. The parking ramp will be on your right as you make the lefthand curve. The Communication Arts and Sciences Building is immediately beyong the parking ramp on the right on Red Cedar, across from the MSU Department of Police and Public Safety.
Parking - Registrants will receive an authorized MSU parking permit when you arrive for the workshop. Please park in the ramp on the corner of Trowbridge and Red Cedar roads and then seek out the student inside the rear door of the College of Communication Arts and Sciences Building. Parking permits DO NOT allow you to park in metered parking spaces, so make sure to park in permit areas only inside the ramp.
